pic Kaleidoscope Festival is organised by the Welwyn Hatfield Ethnic Minority Group with the support of members of the local community. The festival is a multicultural event highlighting and celebrating the cultural diversity found in Welwyn Hatfield.

The 2008 event, planned for Saturday 19 July, will feature food from around the world, music, dance, arts, crafts, fashion, health and beauty, information & community services and (of course) lots of fun for children.

Our reasons for organising the festival are to:

* Showcase and celebrate our rich and diverse cultural heritage

* Contribute towards a community where people from all ethnic backgrounds feel they belong and can join together to celebrate a shared sense of belonging

* Facilitate communication and interactions between all sections of the community, especially between our Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) citizens and local service providers in the voluntary and statutory sectors

* Provide and opportunity for local organisations, giving people the chance to find out more about these organisations, their services and activities

* Offer members of our community an oportunity to make a positive contributions as volunteers, exhibitors or performers.

There is a wide variety of local activity on display; thereare music and dance groups in the open air; food, arts & craft and fashion, health & beauty stalls in marquees; local service providers all around the ground; and there is plenty of entertainment for children and information for everyone. pic
